Rodney Ross Wilder (1917-1964) was from Taylor, Texas, and graduated from Southwestern University. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1940 and trained in California. He served in England, Africa, and bombed Tokyo in 1942 with General Jimmy Doolittle as part of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders.

Ross was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 9 Clusters, Asia-Pacific Ribbon with 2 Battle Stars, ETO (European Campaign) Ribbon with 5 Stars, the American Theater Ribbon with 1 Star, the Military Order of China, and a Presidential Citation.
