War (World War II).

Description

Letter from Ralph Freund at the Freund Motor Company in Georgetown, Texas, to Edward Lee Evans who was stationed in China during World War II. The letter details Evans' request to order a new Plymouth car as soon as production began. Freund mentions the backlog of cars that will likely take place as production will begin again in July, 1945, now that the Axis powers were defeated. Freund also mentions that despite winning the war in Europe, there were not many celebrations in the U.S. as the war was still on in the Pacific Theater and China-Burma-India (CBI Theater).

Edward Lee Evans (1917-2009) from Georgetown, Texas, joined the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Foster Field in Victoria, Texas. He met his wife, Eva St. Laurent, at Foster Field and they were married during the war. Ed served in the Pacific Theatre, and was stationed in places such as India and China.
