Description
A V-mail letter from Sergeant Frank Parks, who was stationed in England, to his aunt, Mrs. L. U. Smith, in Liberty Hill, Texas. The V-mail letter was sent in November 1943, and shows a censor's stamp in the upper left-hand corner. The letter itself depicts branches of holly, an eagle holding an olive branch, an outline of the Isle of Great Britain, and the greeting, "Season's Greetings from Great Britain." The V-mail was sent in an envelope indicating "Official Business" from the War & Navy Departments.
Frank E. Parks (1920-2006) was born in New Jersey, but was raised in Liberty Hill, Texas. He served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. During World War II, he was stationed in the Rhineland, Germany, England and France.
