Description

Lieutenant Colonel Rodney Ross Wilder from Taylor, Texas, pictured in his uniform. He is wearing a hat with the insignia of the United States above the rim.

Rodney Ross Wilder (1917-1964) was from Taylor, Texas, and graduated from Southwestern University. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1940 and trained in California. He served in England, Africa, and bombed Tokyo with General Jimmy Doolittle as part of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders.

Ross was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 9 Clusters, Asia-Pacific Ribbon with 2 Battle Stars, ETO (European Campaign) Ribbon with 5 Stars, the American Theater Ribbon with 1 Star, the Military Order of China, and a Presidential Citation.
